Occupational Safety & Health Manager – Career

THE URBAN DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION REQUIRES A OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY & HEALTH MANAGER

Under the direction of the Director – Human Resource Management the incumbent will have responsibility for developing, implementing and evaluating a corporate health and safety programme directed towards maintaining safe and healthy work environment which helps to prevent harm to employees, property, the environment and the customers of the UDC and its subsidiaries.

The ideal candidate should have:

Specific Knowledge, Qualification and Experience

· A Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited tertiary institution
· Formal knowledge of practices and procedures in the area of Occupational Health & Safety
· Knowledge of governmental regulations and applicable standards
· Knowledge in the field of safety compliance and auditing
· Knowledge of fire safety legislation and best practice requirements
· Knowledge of safety risk management techniques
· Knowledge of relevant computer applications, e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel

Required Skills and Specialized Techniques

· Excellent administrative and Interpersonal skills
· Excellent time management skills
· Good planning, organizational, and analytical skills
· Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written formats
· Ability to work on own initiative
· Ability to organize people to produce desired results
· High degree of tact and diplomacy
