THE RUNAWAY BAY WATER COMPANY REQUIRES A SYSTEMS OPERATOR (Contract)

Job Summary:

The incumbent will have responsibility for ensuring the efficient operation of the Water System, which includes the production, treatment and distribution of potable water, monitoring, maintaining and recording the System’s activities, as well as the detection and repair of leaks, reading of meters, disconnection, re-connection, installation, replacement of meters, inspection and monitoring of the Sewerage Lift Stations at Caymanas Estate.

The ideal candidate should have:

Specific Knowledge, Qualification and Experience

  • A Certificate in Water Operations and Sewage Plant Operation and Maintenance from an accredited institution
  • A Certificate from a vocational training institution in electrical, plumbing or engineering or a minimum of (3) C.X.C./G.C.E. O’ Level subjects including Mathematics and English Language
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of water supply systems
  • A valid motor cycle and CMC Driver’s License
  • Sound knowledge of the operation and maintenance of potable water production, treatment and distribution systems
  • Sound knowledge of water quality and the requirements of public health standards for drinking water
  • Sound knowledge of plumbing, pipeline construction, repairs and pressure requirement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook computer applications
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical applications of switchgear panels, machinery, equipment, electrical motors and deep-well pumps

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written format
  • Excellent human relations skills
  • Ability to function as part of a team
  • Ability to accurately record information from meters, scales etc. and accurately compute consumption based on their readings
  • Careful and meticulous in handling hazardous material by following established safety procedures
  • Alert and attentive to be able to detect unusual sounds or smell that could indicate problems with machinery or equipment
