ASSISTANT DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

Job Summary:
The incumbent has responsibility for the performance, integrity and security of the RDMSs at the UDC. He or she will also be involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users.

The ideal candidate should have:

Specific Knowledge, Qualification and Experience
• B.Sc. Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Computer Engineering
• At least one year experience working in a similar position
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems
• Working knowledge of SQL relational database management systems (RDBMS)
• Working knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL
• Working knowledge of database architecture and its implementation
• Understanding in the areas of Instance, database and query tuning to improve the performance of the database/application
• Excellent analytical, and problem-solving skills

Required Skills and Specialized Techniques

• Knowledge of Microsoft Business Intelligence Tool Power BI
• Sound knowledge of RDBMS concepts, database architecture and SQL/T-SQL
• Knowledge and experience installing, configuring, administering, and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server databases
• Familiarity with SQL Server in a clustered environment
• Experienced in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
• Basic understanding of disaster recovery and database backup procedures
