SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR (CONTRACT)

THE URBAN DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION REQUIRES A SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR (CONTRACT)

Job Summary:

The incumbent has the responsibility to manage and inform all costs related to civil engineering and building projects. This requires that sound quantity surveying and cost management principles be applied from the point of project conception and design, to tender, contract management, final accounting and close out.

The ideal candidate should have:

Specific Knowledge, Qualification and Experience

• BSc (Undergraduate Degree) in Quantity Surveying/Cost Engineering or related field

• Certificate in Construction or Project Management

• Certified by Jamaica Institute of Quantity Surveyors (JIQS), Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or equivalent preferred.

• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in cost estimation in large buildings and works projects.

• Demonstrable experience in cost estimating, cost analysis, tender preparation and evaluation as well as contract administration

• Demonstrate high level of functionality and competence in communicating and engaging stakeholders, including internal facilitation across organizational business units.

• Sound knowledge of the local regulatory framework, as well as standards, codes, standard method of measurement and best practices for the built environment

• Expert knowledge of project life-cycle methodologies, cost benefit analysis and energy management and cost analysis as related to electrical design solutions.

• Sound knowledge of financial management and Procurement principles and techniques.

Required Skills and Specialized Techniques

• Highest level of integrity, ethics and commitment to sound public administration

• Excellent human relations skills and proven ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team

• Ability to use Cost estimation and Design software e.g. AutoCAD

• Negotiation and problem-solving skills

• Ability to communicate complex information clearly and succinctly

• Ability to drive results and meet tight timelines and cost objectives
