Job Summary:
The Landscape Architect (LA) under supervision of the Project Coordinator (PC), is required to perform a range of tasks to support the successful implementation of the project. Specifically, the tasks of the LA will include but are not limited to:
- Analyzing data on site conditions and location of structures in reviewing landscape plans
- Ensuring designs consider emerging issues, and apply relevant and current technology, approaches, practices and tools from across the industry
- Reviewing site plans, drawings and specifications for landscape development and maintenance
- Supervising the activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings and specifications documents
- Supporting the administration of landscape contracts and monitors implementation to ensure compliance with specifications related to landscape activities.
Specific Knowledge, Qualification and Experience: The ideal candidate should have:
- Post Graduate Degree in Landscape Architecture with a minimum of three (3) years’ practical post qualification experience OR
- First Degree in a related field plus 5 years practical experience designing and managing landscape projects
- High design standards with expert knowledge of soil conditions and various planting materials.
- Knowledge of climate change adaptation issues impacting softscape planning and designs
- Sound knowledge of the local regulatory framework, as well as standards, codes, standard method of measurement and best practices for the built environment
- Working experience in World Bank financed projects or other international organization is a plus
- Sound and good knowledge of Government rules and legal requirements in construction in Jamaica
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills

- Ability to manage a series of landscape projects of varying sizes at various stages of development.
