URBAN DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION REQUIRE THE SERVICES OF A PROJECT ENGINEER (CONTRACT)

Job Summary:

The Project Engineer (PE) under supervision of the Project Coordinator (PC), is required to perform a range of tasks to support the successful implementation of the project. Specifically, the tasks of the PE will include but are not limited to; 

  • Supporting the selection of consultants, contractors and supervisor engineers as requested by PC 
  • Participation in the discussions and design and review of detailed design issues, including technical specifications, need for additional technical survey/assessment, and social and environmental assessment for the selected activities.
  • Drafting Terms of Reference (TORS) for technical supervision of project activities, as needed. 
  • Reviewing technical documents (preliminary designs and designs) – as requested by PC – to assure they incorporate sustainability principles and practices and take into consideration future operation and maintenance constraints. 
  • Reviewing detailed design documents, including engineering drawings and technical specifications provided by consultants, check documents for compliance with applicable technical standards local codes and requirements. 

The ideal candidate should have:

Specific Knowledge, Qualification and Experience

  • Advanced University Degree (Masters or equivalent) in Engineering (Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical) OR
  • University Degree (Bachelor’s degree / first level) in Engineering (Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical) with eight (8) additional years of relevant work experience will be accepted in lieu of master’s degree requirement.
  • Sound Knowledge of Engineering and Systems
  • Professional Registration 
  • Minimum of six (6) years in the planning, design and execution of infrastructure projects to include inter alia roads, buildings, parks, parking structures, conference spaces, commercial centres. 
  • Demonstrable experience in designing and managing projects at a Senior level, to include managing projects funded by the GOJ and international agencies/organizations.

  • Excellent design standards and technical skills
  • Sound Computer Aided Design and word processing software skills
