UDC ADVISES OF OFFICE AND ATTRACTION CLOSURES DUE TO TROPICAL STORM MELISSA;

-URGES JAMAICANS TO PREPARE AND STAY SAFE

Kingston, Jamaica- October 23, 2025: The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) advises the public that, in light of the projected passage of Tropical Storm Melissa, all UDC offices and attractions across the island will be temporarily closed as of Friday, October 24, 2025, and will remain closed until weather conditions allow for safe resumption of operations.

This precautionary measure is being taken to safeguard our staff, patrons, and properties as we prepare for the potential impact of the weather conditions associated with the system.

The closures apply to all major attractions operated by the UDC and its subsidiaries, including the world-famous Dunn’s River Falls and Park, Green Grotto Caves, Ocho Rios Bay Beach, and Turtle River Park in St. Ann; Harmony Beach Park in Montego Bay; Bluefields Beach and Long Bay Beach Park in Westmoreland; and Reach Falls in Portland.

The measure -end- also extends to the Jamaica Conference Centre, the St. Ann Development Company, the Ocho Rios Commercial Centre, Runaway Bay Water Company, as well as our Montego Bay, Negril, and UDC Head Office.

Each entity has activated its emergency procedures to secure assets, protect critical infrastructure, and ensure that all safety protocols are followed ahead of the storm’s arrival.

The UDC encourages members of the public to remain vigilant and to stay informed by following official updates from the Meteorological Service of Jamaica and the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM).

Updates regarding the reopening of UDC offices and attractions will be shared through official media releases and our social media platforms once it is safe to resume operations. As we continue to monitor the weather situation closely, the Corporation reaffirms its commitment to the safety and wellbeing of every Jamaican, our staff, patrons, tenants, partners, and the communities we serve. We urge everyone to take the necessary precautions, look after themselves and their loved ones, and follow all official advisories.

We look forward to welcoming you back to our offices and attractions once conditions are declared safe and assure you that the UDC will remain connected and responsive throughout this period.
