Jamaica 50 Fireworks on the Kingston Waterfront is scheduled for New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31, 2011. The event takes on special significance this year, as it ushers in Jamaica’s 50th anniversary as an independent nation.
The programme of activities will commence at 2:00 p.m. culminating at midnight with the fireworks, and go through to 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 1, 2012. The event will also feature a free stage show featuring popular artists such as G -Whizz, Khago, Ken Booth, George Nooks, Omari, Joan Flemmings and I-Octane. However, the highlight, will be the fireworks display at midnight.

Fireworks on the Waterfront was first staged by the UDC in 1999 to usher in the new millennium and was intended to be a one-off event. However, due to overwhelming public demand the UDC has sought in subsequent years to stage the event.
Fireworks on the Waterfront fits into the overall development plans to make Downtown Kingston the ideal location for work, home, leisure, culture and entertainment.
