The Montego Bay Convention Centre (MBCC) was named the Caribbean’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre for the second consecutive year at the World Travel Awards 2012. The Awards ceremony was hosted at Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Villages & Spa on 14 September 2012.
“Receiving an award voted on by clients and peers is great because it reassures us that we are doing things right,” said Dittie Guise, General Manager of the Montego Bay Convention Centre. She further added “Receiving the honor twice in a row is incredibly meaningful; it is a testament that we are cultivating a reputation for consistently delivering service and solutions that rank at the top of the industry”.
The facility which was completed by the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) through Chinese construction firm China National Complete Plant Import and Export Corporation (COMPLANT) during January 2011, was designed as a modern, state of the art facility, capable of hosting large and small meetings, conventions, conferences, exhibitions, banquets, weddings and other events. The Centre is currently managed by United States-based international marketing company SMG.
The World Travel Awards (WTA) was launched in 1993 to acknowledge and recognize excellence in the global travel and tourism industry. Now celebrating its 19th anniversary, it is regarded as the very highest achievement that a travel product can receive.
