Each year, this event bring families and communities together to celebrate the start of a New Year filled with new beginnings and new opportunities and we are happy to be able to help make this happen”.

The programme of activities will commence as usual at about 12:00 p.m. culminating at midnight with the fireworks, and go through to 1:00a.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. As is customary, the event will be staged along Ocean Boulevard and includes a kiddies’ area with a variety of rides and entertainment for the entire family.

Other sponsors for the event this year include, Marathon Insurance Brokers, Nestle Limited, Jamaica Freight and Shipping, Port Authority of Jamaica, Jamaica Constabulary Force, Fire Prevention Division and Ministry of Health.

This year Fireworks on the Waterfront will end a year of activities which commemorates Jamaica’s 50th Anniversary and ushers in an important milestone in the history of the Corporation, as the UDC will celebrate its 45th year of making development happen in 2013.

Fireworks on the Waterfront was first staged by the UDC in 1999 to usher in the new millennium and was intended to be a one-off event. However, due to overwhelming public demand the UDC has sought in subsequent years to stage the event.
