New Ticket Entry System for Dunn’s River Falls and Park

Patrons who visit Dunn’s River Falls will soon see improvements in customer service with a faster processing time at the gate in line with the facility’s status as a world class attraction. The world famous Dunn’s River Falls and Park in St. Ann, managed by the St. Ann Development Company (SADCO), on behalf of the Urban Development Corporation (UDC), will feature a new ticket entry system by end of May 2014.

Over the past few years, Dunn’s River Falls, which occupies pride of place as one of the most sought after attractions, has sought to improve its customer service delivery and experience.

According to Desmond Malcolm, General Manager, UDC, the effort to modernize the entry system at Dunn’s River Falls is the culmination of months of hard work and dedication from staff, executive management and Board. This will result in the strengthening of the efficiency level of the attraction and its reputation as a global force in the attractions industry.

The current system which is manual will give way to a new system allowing for streamlining of business processes, provision of more accurate and timely data, reduction of financial risks and increased access and capacity control. The new system will promote compliance with the existing single entry operation with re-entry only allowed in cases of emergency.

The new system will also ultimately enable only non-residents to purchase tickets through the Dunn’s River website at www.dunnsriverfallsja.com. Jamaican residents will continue to enjoy special rates upon proof of residency at point of entry.

The rates for non-residents to access Dunn’s River Falls and Park are US$20 for persons ages 12 years and over and US $12 for children between the ages of 3 – 11 years. The rates for Jamaican residents are J$600 for persons ages 12 years and over and J$300 for children between the ages of 3 and 11. The attraction opens daily between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and on cruise ship days from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00p.m.

Over the years, Dunn’s River Falls and Park has achieved significant milestones. The facility was named most popular and exciting attraction by cruise officials during 2004 and Leading Caribbean Tourist Excursion by the World Travel Awards in November 2009 and 2010.

The UDC’s relationship with Dunn’s River Falls and Park began in 1976, when the Corporation acquired the Belmont Property. Since 1998, the UDC has been engaged in major upgrading of the property with a view to ensuring parity with other world class attractions and enriching the Dunn’s River experience.

Improvements have included the creation of a central picnic area, construction of a ticket office and entry courtyard, bus and car park, administrative office, staff and nurse’s facilities. A jetty and ticketing office was also constructed to facilitate arrivals by boat. Infrastructure upgrades including water, electrical and telephone distribution systems have also been carried out. Guided tours are available upon request.
