UDC Welcomes New Board

The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) wishes to advise the public that the tenure of some our previous board members have been renewed while we welcome four new directors. The members of the Board of Directors were appointed by the Most Honourable Portia Simpson Miller, Prime Minister of Jamaica for a period of three years ending February 15, 2018.

Previous members who will continue serving the Corporation include Senator K.D. Knight O.J., QC – Chairman, Norman Minott (Deputy Chairman), Ralston Hyman, Shalman Scott, Marcia Edwards, Pamela Redwood, Andrew Azar, Lt. Col. David Cummings, Clinton Clarke, Senator Lambert Brown, Derrick Webb, Patrick Peterkin, Reynold Scott, Sonia Hyman C.D, Robert Martin. New members are Elizabeth Thompson, Lucille Brodber, Greta Bogues and Bishop Rudolph Daley.

Notable achievements by the Corporation under the guidance of the previous Board which was appointed in 2012, include a successful divestment campaign resulting in the J$1.3 billion sale of a number of key properties and lease arrangements.

These properties include Machado Complex (J$104 million), Jamintel Building (J$150 million), Oceana Hotel (J$385 million), Lot 21, (J$75 million), all in Downtown Kingston; the Forum Hotel (J$350 million), St. Catherine and Mahogany Inn (J$240 million), Negril.

Lease agreements were also signed for the Ideal Warehouse and Victoria Pier both in downtown Kingston.
