UDC to Carry Out Improvement Works at Rae Town School on Labour Day 2015

The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) will participate in Labour Day 2015 by carrying out improvement and beautification works at the Salvation Army Basic School, Rae Town in Downtown Kingston on Monday, May 25.  Work is slated to commence at 8:00am.

Labour Day 2015 is being held under the theme “'Labour of Love, Nurturing our Children'.”  In light of the recent rise in reported cases of abuse of our children and the need to safeguard our children's future, the focus is on creating an atmosphere that is safe for children.

This year, Labour Day culminates Workers’ Week 2015 which focuses on the sacrifices made by workers locally and regionally to gain freedom and rights – this Labour Day we support the campaign to promote the safety and rights of our children.

Led by Desmond Malcolm, General Manager of the UDC, the scope of work for the day will include bushing of the School’s surroundings, painting of classrooms and equipment in the play area as well as installing needed safety devices.

As the UDC celebrates its 47th anniversary, the Corporation embraces the need for voluntarism and its importance to the development of Jamaica.  The Corporation has and continues to make contributions towards the development of our children inclusive of its annual GSAT Awards and the construction and upgrading of several educational facilities island-wide.

The Corporation remains committed to making development happen, when and where it is needed in the context of national development.
