UDC Facilitates Small Business Development at Dunn’s River Falls

The Urban Development Corporation (UDC), owner and operator of the Dunn’s River Falls and Park is inviting business operators to take advantage of new offers at the attraction inclusive of selling Confectioneries, Jamaican Patties, Fast Food, and operating a Pizzeria.

The successful addition of these services will aid in the continued development of the world famous Dunn’s River Falls & Park (DRFP), St. Ann and help meet the diverse needs of the over 700,000 visitors from across the world who travel to the facility annually.

Applicants are invited to submit separate offers in accordance with the procedures stipulated in the respective Information Memorandum Document (IMD) by Thursday, March 31, 2016 no later than 3:00 p.m., in the respectively labelled Tender Box, located on the Ground Floor of the Office Centre Building, 12 Ocean Boulevard, Kingston Mall. Proposals submitted after this time and date will be automatically rejected.

The IMDs are currently available on the UDC’s website at www.udcja.com/investments-opportunities. The document is also currently available at the UDC head office between the hours of 9:00a.m. and 4:30p.m., Monday to Friday, upon payment of a non-refundable fee of $2,500.00 by cash or Manager’s cheque payable to the Urban Development Corporation.

Over the last two years, the UDC also extended invitations to the public for the development of other offerings such as new entertainment activities, natural beverage station, ice-cream sale points and rental of shoes stands. Currently, the property is also benefiting from the development of the Central Gardens project which will see the completion of kiosks in 2016 offering more variety to patrons as well as a water feature for recreational purposes.
Visitors to Dunn’s River currently enjoy activities such as climbing the Falls, swimming at the beach, taking part in picnics and walking through the gardens. A craft market within which are two restaurants, four video and one hair braider licensees, one logo shop, two water shoes sales points and two snack counters are other services offered at the attraction.

The rates for non-residents to access Dunn’s River Falls and Park are US$20 for persons ages 12 years and over and US $12 for children between the ages of 3 – 11 years. The rates for Jamaican residents are J$600 for persons ages 12 years and over and J$300 for children between the ages of 3 and 11.

The attraction opens daily between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and on cruise ship days from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00p.m.

Over the years, Dunn’s River Falls and Park has achieved significant milestones. The facility was named most popular and exciting attraction by cruise officials during 2004 and Leading Caribbean Tourist Excursion by the World Travel Awards in November 2009 and 2010.

The UDC’s relationship with Dunn’s River Falls and Park began in 1976, when the Corporation acquired the Belmont Property. Since 1998, the UDC has been engaged in major upgrading of the property with a view to ensuring parity with other world class attractions and enriching the Dunn’s River experience.
