Ministry of Foreign Affairs Building Advances

Workmen finalise steel works as part of the 11 storey office construction for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Building valued  at J$3.968 Billion of which approximately J$3.267 Billion will be funded by a grant from the People’s Republic of China. The Government of Jamaica is providing funds for the coastal protection, drainage and external works, the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation is giving oversight to the project while the UDC is carrying out project management and technical support duties. Funding/oversight is being coordinated through the Ministry of Finance. Jiangsu Jiangdu Construction Group Ltd is the main contractor. The construction activities are scheduled to be completed by December 2018. The project forms another element of the ongoing redevelopment of the downtown Kingston business district which is also benefitting from the completion of the GraceKennedy Headquarters, the rehabilitated Victoria Pier restaurant and the Caribbean Place (formerly Oceana Hotel).
