Dunn’s River Falls and Park (DRFP), has received a Special Recognition Award as part of the Tourism Service Excellence Awards Programme (TSEAP) for contribution to Innovative Adventure Tourism.
The attraction which has the most certified tour guides globally received the award at Saturday night’s (March 17, 2018) ceremony held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Montego Bay St. James. The attraction is managed by the St. Ann Development Company (SADCO) – a subsidiary of the Urban Development Corporation (UDC.
Jomo Pitterson, Manager of DRFP who had earlier expressed how grateful both he and the members of the team from the attraction felt upon having been nominated as part of the overall programme, is now filled with joy and feelings of accomplishment. He explained, “I can safely say that Dunn’s River Falls and Park has had a tremendous 2017, this award has indeed placed the finishing touches on what was an outstanding year, what a fine way to close out 2017.”
A raft of innovations are planned for Dunn’s River Falls including a new entrance courtyard among other developments adding to its latest feature, the Central Gardens with vending kiosks and the popular waterslide.
The UDC’s relationship with Dunn’s River Falls and Park began in 1972, when the Corporation acquired the Belmont Property. Since 1998, the UDC has been engaged in major upgrading of the property with a view to ensuring parity with other world class attractions and enriching the Dunn’s River experience.
The Tourism Service Excellence Award is conferred on a yearly basis by the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo) and rewards individuals and organisations within the regions of Ocho Rios, Negril, Kingston, the South Coast and Montego Bay for their commitment
to the delivery of service excellence in the tourism industry while also promoting the performance of excellence within the sector.
