UDC’S GREEN GROTTO CAVES CELEBRATES SWEET 16 RETENTION OF EARTHCHECK MASTER CERTIFICATION

The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) owned and managed Green Grotto Caves & Attractions is in celebratory mode following the retention of its EarthCheck Master Certification, bringing its total to 16 consecutive years holding certification from EarthCheck.

EarthCheck, which is the world’s leading scientific benchmarking, certification and advisory group for travel and tourism which focuses on the delivery of clean, safe, prosperous and healthy destinations for travellers, made the revelation on Tuesday July 3, 2018 while extending hearty congratulations to the attraction.

Green Grotto Caves & Attractions’ receipt of the prestigious EarthCheck Certification as an Eco-Tourism Destination means that visitors to the attraction are guaranteed not only an unforgettable encounter with the pristine, and relatively undisturbed natural underground beauty; but also, that its operations are carried out in an environmentally responsible manner enabling sustainability and continuation. The attraction’s retention of the certification also means the attraction has created and implemented effective environmental and social management plans which have mastered the areas of Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Energy Efficiency, Conservation & Management of Freshwater Resources and Ecosystem Conservation & Management.

Karen Yang, Relationship Manager at EarthCheck, in her correspondence to Green Grotto Caves expressed that the EarthCheck Master Certification ratifies the attraction’s position as a world leader in sustainable tourism as well as embodies years of continuous dedication to Benchmarking and Certification with EarthCheck.

Green Grotto Caves & Attractions was first certified in 2003, with the Green Globe Certification which was later changed to Earthcheck; followed by Earthcheck Gold Certification in 2009 and having been certified for 10 consecutive years received Platinum Certification in 2012. In 2017 the attraction achieved its first Master level Certification.

Sandraleen Tucker, Manager of Green Grotto Caves & Attractions in response to the announcement explained how very proud both she and the team were to once again retain the certification.
