UDC SUPPORTS NATIONAL VACCINATION PROGRAM

Corporation hosts Vaccination Blitz at Downtown, Kingston office

September 30, 2021 | Kingston, Jamaica:

The Urban Development Corporation (UDC), in support of the national program, welcomes the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) to the Office Centre Building (OCB), Downtown, Kingston. Today, Thursday, September 30, 2021, the UDC’s Head Office will serve as a vaccination site for pre-registered staff, tenants of the OCB and members of the business community in Downtown, Kingston. The Corporation views this activity as a part of its active Corporate Social Responsibility and as its contribution towards supporting the Government’s ongoing vaccination drive.

Over 500 persons registered for the Blitz, which began at 8:00 a.m. In speaking to the activity, Mr. Frank McKoy, head of UDC’s COVID-19 Response and Recovery team noted that “We are comfortable with how things are progressing today and pleased to see so many persons turn up to be vaccinated. This is a very important step in getting Jamaica back to some sense of normalcy. Our team will continue to do what it can to facilitate these activities.”

This is the second UDC-managed venue that has been used as a vaccination site by MOHW. In August, Turtle River Park, St. Ann was used as a Blitz location, through the support of the St. Ann Development Company (SADCO).

Senator Ransford Braham QC, UDC Chairman, has also supported the call for persons to be vaccinated, particularly members of staff. In an address to team UDC, Senator Braham, who is a survivor of COVID-19, is quoted as saying “The suffering [from severe COVID-19] is immense. It is for that reason that I am urging every family member…every UDC personnel and affiliated person to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Spare yourself from suffering or possible death.”

The UDC remains committed to supporting the national vaccination program and will continue to engage the MOHW in this initiative.
