UDC’s RAINTREE COMMERCIAL COMPLEX ATTRACTS STRONG PRIVATE SECTOR INTEREST AND IS SET TO DELIVER THOUSANDS OF PRIVATE SECTOR JOBS BY 2026

Kingston, Jamaica | December 3, 2025 – The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) is on track for the handover of lots by July 2026 in the Caymanas Commercial Development Block 1, named the Raintree Commercial Complex, in St. Catherine.

This brings the project closer to facilitating the creation of more than 2,000 short-term jobs and, upon completion, is projected to support over 5,000 long-term jobs across diverse industries. Following the ground-breaking for the complex in April 2025, the Corporation has seen strong investor uptake with almost 50% of lots already under active, advanced transaction.

Chairman of the UDC, Mr. Norman Brown, described the development as a strong demonstration of the Corporation’s work to stimulate economic growth and transform strategic lands into economic empowerment for Jamaican people and businesses. “The advancement of site works at the Raintree Commercial Complex signals, for the UDC, alignment with the Corporation’s commitment to building out infrastructure that will drive long-term business development, attract private-sector interest, and create jobs for Jamaicans,” he said.

The Raintree Commercial Complex will transform 108 acres of prime land at Ferry Pen in St. Catherine into an energetic hub for light industrial activity and commercial enterprise. It is a space being built with purpose, designed for progress, and created to open new possibilities for Jamaica’s economic landscape.

The development will feature 69 fully serviced, subdivided lots supported by modern, high-quality infrastructure. This includes water, sewage, electricity, stormwater systems, and well-constructed roadways. The layout incorporates green spaces and protected environmental zones, promoting sustainability and ensuring long-term, resilient growth for all future users.

This prime development at Caymanas Estate is strategically located at the convergence of three of Jamaica’s major highways, the PJ Patterson, Edward Seaga, and Nelson Mandela Highways and provides unmatched accessibility. Its placement offers seamless connectivity to Kingston and Spanish Town within minutes, creating exceptional opportunities for efficient transport, logistics, and market reach.

This advantageous positioning establishes Raintree as a powerful engine for trade and commerce. It is expected to strengthen business-to-business linkages, facilitate investment, and catalyse economic development across the wider region.
