Project Summary
The UDC, was mandated by the Government of Jamaica, in support of its vision and development goals for the country, to establish ‘Next City’ as one of its priority projects. Like many new cities across the world, Jamaica is moving towards purpose-built urban centres which provide an acceptable quality of life for all its residents, with access to affordable housing, employment, green and SMART amenities and services. This will include but not be limited to the implementation of infrastructure that is powered by alternate energy sources; water recycling and suitable entertainment and lifestyle options.
