UDC ANNOUNCES THE REOPENING OF TURTLE RIVER PARK

Ocho Rios, Jamaica: November 18, 2025: The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) is pleased to advise the public that Turtle River Park is now open and ready to welcome visitors. Our teams have completed the necessary cleanup and restoration work to ensure that the park is safe, refreshed, and fully prepared to receive families, residents, and guests to the heart of Ocho Rios.

UDC General Manager Bobby Honeyghan says the park’s reopening forms part of the UDC’s commitment to restoring public access to key recreational facilities across the island.

“An important part of our recovery is the return of normalcy and routine for Jamaicans. It is particularly essential that people have places to go as we work on getting our nation back to full functionality and strive for even greater resilience in the face of what we have collectively experienced in the wake of Hurricane Melissa.”

Meanwhile, Deputy General Manager, Sherlock Glenister expressed the Corporation’s appreciation to the public for their patience, he said, “As we worked to bring the park back to full readiness, UDC prioritized the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of all who will use the space, and we remain committed to maintaining the high standard of care that Jamaicans expect from their national attractions and public amenities.”

Visitors are invited to return and enjoy the park’s natural beauty, its open lawns, walking paths, and the peaceful setting it provides in the centre of Ocho Rios.

The UDC emphasizes that the Park is free, however rates for the car park vary from JMD 300 to JMD 1000, subject to length of stay. Current opening hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm until electricity has been fully returned to the parish of St. Ann.

Turtle River Park remains one of the most beloved public parks in the country, offering a quiet, accessible space for relaxation, reflection, and family time, as well as special functions including weddings, photography sessions, and private events. Bookings can be made via the park’s management at 876 795-0078, 876 954- 5415 or 876 974-2612.

UDC will provide further updates on our other properties as restoration works continue across the island.

The Corporation looks forward to welcoming everyone back to Turtle River Park and uses this opportunity to remind Jamaicans that the World-Famous Dunn’s River Falls and Parks, as well as Harmony Beach Park in Montego Bay, have already reopened.
