THE URBAN DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION REQUIRES THE SERVICES

The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) is seeking suitably qualified professionals to join its Strategic Planning and Evaluation Department (SPED) as part of an integrated pool of Analysts supporting the Corporation’s strategy, research, analytics and performance capabilities.

 

Job Summary:

The Business Analyst will support SPED as UDC’s internal analytics and intelligence hub. The role requires structured problem-solving, strong financial and quantitative aptitude, and the ability to translate complex analysis into actionable recommendations that support evidence-based decision-making across the Corporation.

 

The incumbent will collect, review, analyze, and synthesize information from internal and external sources; identify trends, risks, gaps and opportunities; and prepare executive-ready decision-support products, including business cases, feasibility studies, market insights, dashboards, performance reports, and presentations.

 

Specific Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

 

The ideal candidate should possess:

 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Data Analytics, Business/Management or a related discipline. Candidates with other degrees may also be considered where the programme of study provides a strong analytical or quantitative foundation.

  • At least two years’ relevant experience in consulting, strategy, finance, research, or other analytical environments.

  • Strong financial and quantitative aptitude, including the ability to interpret financial and business information and undertake financial modelling.

  • Exceptional business writing, including the ability to translate complex information and analysis into concise recommendations.

  • Demonstrated experience preparing analytical products such as business cases, feasibility studies, research reports, dashboards, executive briefs and management presentations.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, R, Python, ArcGIS or other analytical and visualization tools would be an asset.

  • A relevant professional certification in areas such as finance, investment, data analytics, business analysis or another relevant field would be an asset (e.g. CFA, FMVA, CBAP or equivalent).

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Work with business areas to understand and define business needs and challenges, clarify key questions, and structure issues for analysis.

 

  • Collect, validate, analyze, and synthesize financial and operational information from internal and external sources to identify trends, risks, gaps and opportunities.

 

  • Conduct structured analysis of business problems and initiatives and prepare business cases, feasibility studies, forecasts, scenarios, dashboards, and other decision-support tools.

 

  • Translate complex quantitative and qualitative analysis into clearly communicated recommendations through executive-ready reports and presentations to Management, the Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.

    • Business Intelligence and Data Analytics

    • Investment and Financial Analysis

    • Operational Analysis

    • Process Design and Efficiency

  • Strong structured problem-solving, analytical and critical-thinking skills

  • Strong financial and quantitative aptitude

  • Ability to develop and critically assess financial, operational and other analytical models

  • Exceptional business writing and synthesis skills, including clear findings, implications and recommendations

  • Ability to use data and research to generate meaningful and actionable business insights

  • Strong Excel, data-visualization and presentation skills

  • Ability to communicate complex information effectively to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Ability to collaborate across teams and to communicate across all levels of staff
